Building Regional Capacity
To facilitate lasting systemic change aimed at closing long-standing equity gaps and enhancing postsecondary and career technical education outcomes for historically underserved populations in Los Angeles County, GLAEF initiated a formal dual enrollment effort with the dedicated staff at LACOE. This is a unique opportunity to enhance support, foster collaboration between K-12 institutions, community colleges, advising and advocacy organizations, and formulate equity-driven strategies to bolster dual enrollment programs across all districts and charter schools. LACOE’s leadership coupled with its expertise in providing technical assistance can effectively build regional capacity.
This endeavor is particularly significant given the current landscape. Recent investments by the state, including those through K–16 collaboratives, the Golden State Pathways Program, the governor’s compacts with the UC and CSU systems, and the allocation of $100 million to expand Career and College Access Pathways programs in the 2022–23 state budget, underscore the growing momentum behind dual enrollment as a pivotal strategy to enhance the educational pipeline and facilitate college and career attainment.
Los Angeles College Accelerator Network
GLAEF leads the LA College Accelerator Network - a collective of K-12 districts and community
colleges - to design, develop and implement equitable and enhanced dual enrollment programs.
We host regional convenings, develop tools, and provide direct support to help LA County districts and schools unlock state funds and build new pathways to make college - and dynamic careers - more accessible.
Los Angeles County Toolkit to Equity-Centered Dual Enrollment Partnerships
The “Los Angeles County Toolkit to Equity-Centered Dual Enrollment Partnerships” is a comprehensive collection of tools and resources assembled by experts throughout LA County to support practitioners with enhancing their dual enrollment programs and ensuring equitable student success.
The toolkit, developed in partnership with LACOE and Education Strategy Group and with the support of the College Futures Foundation, builds upon activities and findings from the Los Angeles College Accelerator Network and is guided by the six core elements of an effective dual enrollment partnership defined in Unlocking Potential: A State Policy Roadmap for Equity & Quality in College in High School Programs.
