About Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach

Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach (ELALB) was established in 2018 under Long Beach Headstart leadership and works to increase access to high-quality early learning across southern California and serves as a hub for modeling how early learning programs can provide quality early education, partner with families, and advocate for education practice and policy.

ELALB was formed in partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District through public-private partnership between organizations committed to ensuring all children receive high-quality care and education

The Impact

ELALB drives transformational change in early childhood education by focusing on four core, high-impact pillars. We ensure High-Quality Teaching through an evidence-based curriculum that prepares every child for lifelong success; we solidify this excellence with Embedded Professional Development, turning our center into a regional training hub; we deepen the impact through Intensive Family Engagement, uplifting parents as partners in their child's learning journey; and finally, we utilize Data Utilization to constantly refine our practice. As members of the Educare Learning Network, we are part of a powerful platform for research and policy advocacy dedicated to lifting the achievement cap for our most vulnerable learners.

ELALB serves 182 children and their families with a gold standard of early care and education. Our strength lies in our profound community partnerships: the center's distinguished advisory board includes key stakeholders such as the Buffett Early Childhood Fund, the Long Beach Unified School District, the Early Head Start-Head Start Office with LBUSD, the Los Angeles Partnership for Early Childhood Investment, The Advancement Project, and UNITE LA. This powerful collaboration ensures the program remains aligned with regional policy, research, and educational needs.
