About the Fund

The Mathematics for Equity Charitable Fund at GLAEF supports a future where every student—regardless of background—has access to high-quality math education. The fund empowers educators, inspires students, and helps close opportunity gaps through professional development, student scholarships, and community events. The fund plays a critical role in fostering equity, innovation, and success in mathematics.

The Impact

Mathematics is a foundation for innovation, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. This fund supports LACOE’s vision of equitable and empowered math education by transforming Math Field Day into Los Angeles County’s premier mathematics event—offering students dynamic, inquiry-based experiences that ignite curiosity and a lifelong passion for math. It also advances the goals of the Mathematics for Equity Fund, a key initiative focused on closing opportunity gaps and ensuring all students, regardless of background, can succeed in mathematics.

By fostering inclusive learning, elevating student and family voices, and promoting excellence in mathematics, the fund helps prepare all students to thrive in an evolving, innovation-driven world.

Your Support in Action

Contributions to this fund directly support:

  • Math Field Day Expenses: Covering event operations to ensure broad student participation in engaging, high-quality math experiences.

  • Student Scholarships: Supporting graduating seniors who have participated in Math Field Day and are pursuing degrees in mathematics or related fields.

  • Professional Learning: Providing meaningful development opportunities for educators and families to strengthen math teaching, learning, and engagement across communities.

These strategic investments help foster a countywide culture of math excellence, equity, and collaboration.
