Daniel Carlos Herrera Memorial Scholarship

About the Scholarship
The Daniel Carlos Herrera Memorial Scholarship, established in 2001, honors the life and memory of Daniel Carlos Herrera and celebrates his family’s enduring commitment to education for English learners.
This scholarship recognizes the value of bilingualism and the perseverance of students who overcome challenges to achieve their goals. It supports bilingual high school seniors — Spanish/English or those with Native American Tribal affiliation — who are pursuing careers in education or community service to serve diverse communities.
Through this scholarship, Daniel’s legacy continues by empowering the next generation of resilient leaders dedicated to making a positive impact in their communities.
The Impact
The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Multilingual Academic Programs Leadership Network’s scholarship recognition — three decades of supporting and uplifting future educators and leaders. Among these awards, the Daniel Carlos Herrera Memorial Scholarship, established in 2001, continues to honor Daniel’s legacy by empowering bilingual students to pursue higher education and serve their communities.
