About the Scholarship
The Shelly Spiegel-Coleman Scholarship honors Shelly Spiegel-Coleman, whose lifelong dedication to multilingual learners has transformed education across California. Through her decades of work as an educator and advocate, Shelly has been a driving force in elevating the value of multilingualism and shaping equitable, culturally responsive policies and practices that empower all students to succeed.
This scholarship supports bilingual high school seniors pursuing careers in education or counseling, with a focus on meeting the needs of English learners and advancing bilingual education.
The Impact
The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Multilingual Academic Programs Leadership Network’s scholarship recognition — three decades of supporting and uplifting future educators and leaders.
